HOUSTON – An attorney for a British lawyer fighting extradition to the United States to face charges that he helped bribe Nigerian officials says his client will plead guilty in the case.
Bradley Simon says 62-year-old Jeffrey Tesler is on his way to Houston and will plead guilty Friday. However, he wouldn't say to what Tesler would plead guilty.
A federal grand jury in Houston indicted Tesler in 2009 on 11 counts of helping steer bribe money from a former Halliburton Co. subsidiary, Houston-based Kellogg, Brown & Root LLC. It accused Tesler of helping to bribe Nigerian officials to win more than $6 billion in construction contracts.
Britain's High Court ruled in January that Tesler could be extradited to the United States.
